Dungeons & Drogans 2: Session 1
The Drogans set off for Harkenwold to report the elimination of the death cult in Shadowfell Keep. En route, Morgan died of a massive brain hemorrhage. No remorse was shown from anyone.
After attending to their business in Harkenwold, the Drogans received a letter -- a plea for help from Sister Linora of Winterhaven. Coltaine, remembering Sister Linora was an attractive woman, gathered his Drogans and departed posthaste.
When the Drogans arrived in Winterhaven, they learned that a group of hobgoblin slavers known as the Bloodreavers -- whom they'd heard of in Shadowfell Keep -- had raided the countryside and taken prisoners, including Winterhaven's own Lord Padraig, the innkeeper Salvana Wrafton, Delphina Moongem, Thair Coalstriker, and Rond Kelfem, captain of the town guard.
Rhekd recognized the name Thair Coalstriker -- his cousin, Winterhaven's dwarven blacksmith.
Further, two graves had been robbed of their corpses -- Rekoj, a former Drogan, and an unmarked grave Coltaine realized was the Paladin Zaxzarrd's, a former Drogan as well.
Our heroes decided to embark upon this quest to save the dwarven blacksmith.
Sister Linora directed the Drogans to Thunderspire Mountain, but warned them that within the mountain was a settlement named The 7-Pillared Hall, a wretched hive of scum and villainy.
The Drogans set out along King's Road, eventually spotting the impossibly tall Thunderspire Mountain. They traveled the cobbled path that snaked its way up the mountain and arrived before the gaping maw into Thunderspire, a massive archway flanked by two minotaur statues that scowled down at them.
The Drogans entered the mountain, descending a passage lined with demon statues until they feared they were lost. Eventually, they heard muffled voices echoing down a passage and moved in to investigate.
They arrived before a door. On the other side could be heard talk of selling a captive halfling into slavery for 10 gold.
Brainstorming a plan of action, the Drogans considered simply buying the slave, since 10 gold pieces is dirt cheap, but instead opted to be vicious murderers. They kicked down the door and got to work.
Within the room were four hobgoblin soldiers, a beat-up halfling and a hobgoblin spellcaster.
Sorrow opened the battle by setting the contents of the room on fire with a blast of magic.
The spellcaster said the Drogans would feel the wrath of the Bloodreavers as his soldiers engaged them.
As Coltaine held the front line, Sorrow indiscriminately bombarded the battlefield with arcane fire, burning Coltaine twice.
The spellcaster wanted to take the Drogans as captives in order to please Chief Krand, but our heroes weathered the enemy phalanx and made quick work of the four soldiers.
Coltaine ordered the spellcaster to surrender. The hobgoblin sneered, raised his staff, which sparked electrical energy, and said, "What do you have to say about THIS?!" He slammed the staff down on Coltaine's shield.
Nothing happened, and after a pause, the spellcaster said, "Okay, I surrender."
The session ended, and the players planned to search the room and question the spellcaster.
