Pokemon Pearl Sololocke Randomizer… it has a catchy ring, eh? JustPlayPokemon was the first to try the Sololocke challenge, and now I’m here on the PokemonFabFive giving it a shot myself! The rules to a sololocke will be down below, however if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Some of you may remember my first series on the PokemonFabFive was actually here in Sinnoh in the Pokemon Platinum Randomizer Monotype, and now we’re back for another exciting adventure! I’m HYPED for this adventure because I finally get the privilege to play through a sololocke, which I’ve wanted to try for some time now. In addition, given that I’m The4thGenGamer, it’s always a blast to play though the Sinnoh region, then add on the fun and anticipation of a Sololocke, and you have a hell of a series. I hope you’re just as pumped for this Let’s Play because you know I am.

What are the Sololocke Rules?
- Normal Nuzlocke rules apply, with a twist described below (must capture first pokemon of the new route after the gym leader, must nickname all caught pokemon, if a pokemon faints, the game is over).
- With this being a combination Solo Run (only use one pokemon per gym) and Switchlocke (must swap out party after each gym), I decided to make the wild pokemon encounters randomized, as well as the starters.
- In summary, I start with a random pokemon of YOUR choosing, then continue with ONLY that pokemon through the first gym. Immediately after the first gym, I must swap out the Pokemon I beat the gym with for the first capture on a new route after the gym and level it to the same level I was at. For example, if I have a level 18 golduck after the first gym, then I hit the first route after the gym, I catch a Bulbasaur, I must immediately level the Bulbasaur up to level 18 and continue onward through the second gym, where the process repeats itself.
- If I choose, I can go back to other routes for my encounter, however no repeat pokemon are allowed.
- I will be using the Rare Candy and Unlimited Ultra Ball cheats to catch pokemon and level them up quicker, just to save time.
- I will be playing with 3 ‘lives’ (AKA, I can die 3 times) for this playthrough, however you may use as many or little of these ‘lives’ as you wish since the games level curve isn’t designed for a solo run.
