It has been a while since we've seen a proper dual-screened smartphone. Sure, we just looked at the fascinating YotaPhone, which is very interesting for what it does, but we're talking about phones with a pair of regular, full-color, full-motion screens. Following in the footsteps of the Kyocera Echo or Samsung Doubletime, we're now taking a look at NEC's Medias W, attempting to finally do this concept some justice.

NEC's mechanism is a bit different from the elaborate hinges used on the Echo; when the phone is "closed", both screens are on the outside, and the whole thing measures about 12.2 millimeters thick. When "opened", one of those screens pivots around to give you a workspace more akin to what you'd get with a small tablet.

Take a look at our video to see how NEC's software deals with the dual-screen arrangement, and what sort of flexibility it offers for running two apps at once. less
