The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 joins the Note II and the Note 10.1 in bringing the S-Pen to an eight-inch form-factor. The tablet is following Samsung's recent design language to the letter in both shapes and materials; it is powered by a 1.6GHz quad-core processor (the same which is powering the Galaxy Note II) and packs 2GB of RAM, with 32- and 64GB internal storage options (expandable via microSD cards).

The screen resolution is 800 x 1280 and the camera setup includes a five-megapixel main shooter at the back as well as a 1.3 megapixel webcam. It is currently running Android 4.1.2 and everything is powered by a 4,600mAh battery.

An interesting feature, one which Note II users have wanted, is finally in: the S-Pen can now be used to operate the device's capacitive buttons. It is also worth noting that the Galaxy Note 8.0 has phone functionality; you can use the earpiece at the top of the device to take calls at your ear, just like a smartphone.

Software-wise, TouchWiz and most of the features are similar to the Note II, with the addition of some extra S-Pen functionality (AirView is now available on other, non-Samsung apps). less
