"Earn to Die" Game Series
(Youtube)

Absolutely everyone loves the post apocalyptic future. There's the sense of adventure, despair, and desperate, violent survival. Everyone also loves the zombie apocalypse and everyone imagines themselves to be badass heroes that'll go all Ash on the zeds with nothing more than a chainsaw and cheesy B-movie attitude. The Earn to Die games combine those two and give you a post-apocalyptic zombie wasteland where you'll plow through zombie after zombie while exploding the crap out of everything in your way.
The Earn to Die games, of which there are three in this playlist, look like generic driving/shooting games. Sure, they fit the image, but they're still great fun in their own right. They present themselves well enough to carve out a name for themselves in the otherwise over-saturated genre.
One of the ways the game does this is by looking great. Sure, the opening sequence does leave something to be desired in terms of cinematic quality, but hey, you're here to play a game, not to watch a movie. Once the game starts, you'll see that a great amount of attention went into getting all the details just right. Everything from the hordes of zombies to the different rides you'll be driving is drawn with the utmost in detail. What's better is that as you upgrade your rides, you'll be treated to better and more outlandish combinations of armaments and armor that turn your initial ride into a steel zombie-killing monstrosity. You won't be cheated by upgrades simply adding functionality to your ride, each upgrade also adds to the overall visual of your ride making for some rather interesting vehicles.
The audio leaves a bit to be desired though, there's only so much one can take of explosions and gunfire. Still, those explosions and gunfire are done rather well, so it'll take some time before you get tired of them. The same goes for the crunching of zombies under your wheels and their moans and groans as they shamble towards your ride.
The game itself is fairly simple. You drive from one point to the other, trying to get as far as you can on a single tank of gas. Running into zeds and into obstacles will slow you down making things more difficult. The farther you get each day, the better you're able to upgrade your ride going from a lowly family ride to a gas-guzzling, zombie-destroying, virtual tank.
The game starts off relatively slowly, as can be expected. It does take some work to really break into the game to get at the better stuff, but with a little work you'll soon be tearing up the terrain and utterly destroying anything in your path. But that's enough of the big picture, let's get started with the individual games. First up in our playlist is the first game (obviously) in the series, Earn to Die which is followed by the different chapters of Earn to Die 2012. Enjoy! less
